Eyreton Lodge is situated in the Eyrewell district of North Canterbury approx 15km from Cust and Oxford and 35km from Rangiora. The property is being developed for the breeding of Standardbreds and includes an 850 metre all-weather training track.

Examination of the pedigrees of top horses reveals a high degree of maternal relationships between the mare and the sire, and this is the stud philosophy of breeding. We feel the mare is the key to good breeding and we select the appropriate stallion that will take the good aspects of the mares pedigree on to the next generation.

All horses at the stud are selected according to their pedigree and the sires profile of success with the breeding of the mare.

Studmaster Dave Quinn has followed his family tradition of involvement with Harness Racing and has a lifetime of experience in training and stud work, with a particular love for trotters.

We are very proud to be standing the outstanding stallion RAFFAELLO AMBROSIO. A product of WALNUT HALL FARM, he is one of only 3 stallions in the world that carries Arndon and BF Coaltown maternally. With a 3rd dam by Nibble Hanover and 4th dam by Hoot Mon his pedigree is ideally suited to most New Zealand mares. His pedigree profile is comparable with MUSCLES YANKEE.

We believe he will cross particularly successfully with Sundon and Balanced Image line mares.

His sire VICTORY DREAM, in a very short career produced only 89 foals for 71 starters, 50 winners with 19 earning over $US100,000 for career earnings of $US 7.8 million. DREAM ON VICTORY, a full sister to VICTORY DREAM, is the dam of DREAM VACATION. Both DREAM VACATION and RAFFAELLO AMBROSIO come from the maternal family of MINNEHAHA.

On top of his pedigree, RAFFAELLO AMBROSIO is a beautifully gaited and conformed horse who has retained is lean athletic physique and a good nature to pass to his progeny.
